It is days like today and yesterday that I am the most thankful for my profession. When I get to be in situations that give me a chance to use what I know for my loved ones, there is just nothing better! & (almost) being there for Robert & Chelsea as they prepared to meet their little boy and then holding him in my arms today and capturing more sweet moments was something I will be forever grateful for.
Brock and I love you three so much, you have been there for us as we welcomed our two babies, enjoyed making memories with them as they have grown and we can’t wait to return the favor and do the same with you guys!
Robert & Chelsea, I pray your little boy grows up in the knowledge that he is loved and well cared for by us all, that he is cherished by you two, adored by his family and friends and loved by a graceful and ever-present God. May he always have a soft place to land at home and hands to guide him as he grows.

IT’S A BOY!!!!!
My sweet nephew, Greyson(spelling to be determined) Lee Newell!
I have been a bad, bad blogger lately! PASS, if you haven’t heard of it and aren’t a client, is a brand spankin’ new way of sharing photos online and it is so sleek and gorgeous that I rarely blog or even post on Facebook! Shocking!
So, in case you thought I dropped off the earth or got swallowed up by baby laundry, and diapers and nursing duty, I did not. & here is the proof. Just a few of my favorites from the last 3 months!
Allison & Eric: Wow! What a wedding! Allison put so much detail into every little thing. I was blown away by her, Eric, their sweet little girl Kam and how much they all love one another! & this couple can have fun as well! It was beautiful and I know they will have many, many years of happiness!
Ashli & Brett: These high school sweethearts have it all together. Ashli is stunning. From her hair to her smile, to her sense of fashion and definitely the sweet way she loves Brett. & the playful way he loves her. They made me smile the whole time, and I really probably was obnoxious saying, “just one more, okay maybe just ONE more”. Seriously though, with light and love like that what photographer would want to stop shooting? Not this gal! Ashli and Brett, I hope you always make each other laugh like you did during your session! Many blessings to you both.
Brenda & Dom: Brenda is Ashli’s younger sister, and she and Dom are expecting a sweet little girl. Poor Brenda and I almost couldn’t get this together because of pitiful weather in our area but this morning the light was sweet, and although it was cool and windy we made some lovely images together. Dom is so in love with Brenda, and their little bundle on the way. & from the tender way Brenda took care of her bump I know she will be a wonderful mother. This session was so light and fun, and I just know baby Blayre is joining a loving, happy home!
Hadley: This sweet little thing is all mine. My youngest, Hadley Joy. She was a perfect little model in my wedding gown, with her headband made with my sash and those to die for baby blues. Can you tell I am just smitten by her?
Jessica: Jess is a friend from high school. She is one of those friends you don’t have to see all the time and you can pick right back up with the same humor and comfort that you always had! I was honored to shoot these for her for her COLLEGE GRADUATION! I am always so proud of my sweet friends and all they do, and Jess is no exception. She will go on to do big and wonderful things and I hope we can always be close friends! Thanks for letting me “shoot” you, you are gorgeous, inside & out!
Lauren & Josh: This was a wedding I had the pleasure of second shooting recently and I just loved this wedding part! So fun and sweet and full of laughs! Lauren was a stunning bride and Josh a very attentive and handsome groom! I wish them a long and happy marriage!
Leah: This little doll! What a ham! & such a natural with the camera. Some toddler shoots can be a challenge but not Leah! She was so focused on the task at hand, and always willing to smile or fake laugh for me! Her momma planned this GORGEOUS first birthday session and I think everything turned out wonderful!
Whitlea: Whitlea is one of my nieces and in honor of her turning two soon (& the fast that she is just adorable and I somehow have managed to not take her pictures since she was about 3 months old) we finally did a shoot. I wanted to embrace her sweetness, and how laid back and wonderful she is and I think we did it! She melts my heart! I love you to the moon and back Whitta!
Hope you enjoyed!
Such a beautiful concept and it came together just as I pictured thanks to Hannah! She has this love of vintage chairs & luckily, a hubby who doesn’t mind hauling it around to meet my vision!
It was freezing, and this stunning couple completely braved that for the sake of the photos and I think it really paid off.
Hannah, thanks so much for brainstorming with me to put this together and make it happen! This shoot is everything I want my business to be. Fun, whimsical, bright, and timeless. Kind of like you and Adam. You made me laugh and made what is normally a “job”, a fun afternoon with good people! What a perfect start to a brand new beginning for my business!
Part one of what I hope will be an amazing series of gals and their gowns. Un-done, laid back and really just a classy adult version of dress-up.
Valerie is one of my best girlfriends. In the past two years I have been beyond blessed to be part of a small group that has been so much more to me than fellowship. It has given me the kind of friendships I pray everyone finds. Honesty, and pure love! I can tell those three anything, with no fear of judgment. Val was also our doula ((you can find her at https://www.facebook.com/BrilliantBeginningsBirth)) and witnessed the birth of my daughter.
I hope I am always lucky enough to call her a friend. To top off her awesomeness, she is gorgeous. Seriously. I was swooning as I looked back over these. Pure beauty, y’all.
Recently I was able to do something really cool for me as a professional, work on set with one of my idols, Katie Parker.
Back in 2008, when I was a junior in high school, Katie took my senior pictures with my best friend. I knew Katie in school, and then getting to work with her I was really awed by her imagination and work ethic. She has since then gone on to make a name for herself in photography, as well as accomplishing some things in her personal life. She took photos for us when my oldest was three months old on a trip back home and I hope to continue to cross paths with her in the future.
This particular shoot I was able to attend, was for a young up-coming model, Morgan. I got to watch Katie and even though I was 8 months pregnant I got a couple of shots I loved.
Katie has recently launched a new venture, a blog, For the Creative Types. She continues to inspire me and I wish her the best of luck as she moves forward!! Thanks for having me Katie! & you could check her out at www,forthecreativetypes.com!

As 2014 approaches I am really evaluating where I want my career to take me. As a family we have chosen for me to stay at home with our babies and it is ((for me)) the most rewarding and fantastic job option there is. I love the ins and outs of my little stay at home life. I also love the fast paced, awe inspiring work that I get to do as a photographer & I am not ready to give that up. In fact, I would love for 2014 to be the year I take off! With that on the brain I have looked closely into what my “niche” is. I have to toot my own horn a little and say that I am generally wonderful with the kiddos. Whether it is a family of four or a newborn, I find an ease that comes with being a mommy and that transfers over into the photos. I love that, but if I really explore what I am passionate about, I find that it is weddings. As much as I love my family’s I get to shoot, as well as my newborns and seniors it is the classic “love story” that my heart aches to capture on camera.
I am always thrilled with working with new brides, and find joy and excitement in all the love and detail they put into their big day’s! I will squeal with them over delicate and fragrant bouqets, grin over the goofy way the groom is nervous when calling his bride his wife for the first time, and “ooh and awe” with the bridesmaids when the bride dons her exquisite dress and all the other sweet moments that makes a wedding special. I get it. Three years ago this July, I too married my best friend and I know what they are feeling, and I know what they want captured to pore over later in print! For this reason my main goal this year will be marketing to brides. I will be offering portrait sessions on the off-peak wedding months as well as putting together a skew of mini-session dates, but my focus will be on the “I do”!
To kick it off I have created a wedding magazine that I just love! It will give my brides a clear picture of what they get when they hire JWP, as well as a little bit about me. Until some of my tech-savvy friends helps me figure out a way to format it for email, I will be posting it here! Enjoy, and feel free to share with all those newly engaged friends of yours!
Katie contacted me awhile back to go ahead and book a spot for pictures of her and her boyfriend Daniel. Katie is in school and Daniel is in the Army National Guard and deploying in a few short weeks. I was happy to squeeze them in!! Shortly after nailing down arrangements with Katie, Daniel contacted me with a huge surprise. He wanted to propose to Katie on the shoot. I was thrilled to be a part of it!
We worked out a plan and crossed our fingers everything would work and it went off without a hitch! We started at our first location and did two outfits there and Katie & Daniel had so much fun. His family was there for a family Christmas picture as well as to witness the big moment. We played and had a good time, just letting their personalities come through and giving them chance to warm up to the camera. Then it was time for our second location and our last outfit change, their dressiest outfits including Daniels dress uniform at Daniel’s request.
We got to the park and got set up, with their families off to the side, just “talking” and minding their own business. I set them up where I could have a quick private word with Daniel and at my request he went back to the cars to grab my extra SD card. (little does Katie know that this is all part of the setup)!!
I ask Katie if we can take a few of just her while we wait. Then with Katie’s back to Daniel he begins to slowly walk back into the frame. At this point my heart is racing and I can only imagine how Daniel is feeling. Katie is obviously completely oblivious to what is happening. Daniel gets directly behind Katie, and as we talked about, taps her shoulder.
The rest is all his moment. After speaking to her for a moment he drops down on one knee and the rest it history. Her answer, of course, is yes and the rest of the shoot becomes an engagement shoot! How awesome is that?
I was so very excited to have been a small part of this exciting moment for the both of them and wish them nothing but the best as their love story continues!!!
