Today I had the honor and pleasure of not only meeting my third niece, but also of photographing it as well! Some of you may remember my sister and brother in law’s adoption story I shared here. They have been anxiously awaiting the birth of their daughter and today was the day! We got the phone call this morning, and support people from both our family and the birth mom’s family made their way to the hospital. Not knowing what to expect I was very timid, with a plan of just being a fly on the wall and to keep a prayerful heart. Christine, the birth mother made us all feel like we could be okay being a part of things. She handled what seemed to be a slow moving labor well, until it wasn’t slow anymore! All of a sudden things kicked into high gear and we had a baby within less than an hour of her being 8cm. Watching Brooke & Duane become parents. Wow. Nothing like it. I have seen a slew of beautiful, wonderful things, but this was incredible. Both families were honest, real and respectful. & the baby, well, she is perfection. She has a tiny little chin and the poutiest lips. Watching Brooke carefully dress her, feed her and love on her was just the icing on the cake. We are all so blessed to have been there and to experience this together! Cathryn (or Catmandu, Catie Faith, Cate, or Catie) you might have a thousand a one nicknames but know they all come from people who treasure you, and will protect you and have loved you from the minute we saw you! You won’t know for a long time how lucky you were to have been hand picked by God for both a birth Mommy and Daddy who loved you enough to give you to Brooke and Duane and to a big, goofy, crazy family with so much love you couldn’t measure it!
Now, without further adieu meet this bundle of lovins’
